Welcome to episode #126! We have had a whirlwind of things going on in our lives the last few weeks, but we are so glad to be with you and share some cruising goodness and fun. On this new show, we share an update on Hurricane Florence and her impact on cruise ships and itineraries on the East coast. Welcome to episode #125! Cuba has become an enigma and a curiosity to travelers, especially to cruisers for many decades. It is the closest foreign island to the United States, but it was the least visited and restricted to Americans. Not anymore now! For over two years now the cruise lines have been making port stops to Havana, Cuba and Americans are learning, experiencing and enjoying the sights, sounds, entertainment, food and drink and so much more. On this new episode, we have our listener, Ron, share his recent cruise on Royal Caribbean's Empress of the Seas and his two day port stop at Cuba. Ron shares some amazing stories, tips and helpful hints on how to prepare and what to expect when you visit this beautiful and intriguing destination. Welcome to episode #109! It's been a rough couple of weeks. Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria and now the horrific tragedy in Las Vegas. Scott and I take some time to share just some thoughts and how all of this has affected us and our families the last few weeks. We are thankful and grateful that our Florida relatives did not suffer great damage or injury. However, sadly, so many others were affected by these tragedies in life changing ways. How do we respond? What should we do? Welcome to episode #108! We took some time to look at and discuss how the cruise lines have responded to Hurricane Harvey and how they are preparing for Hurricane Irma - and possibly Jose and Katia. Overall, we think that all of the cruise lines are taking every precaution available. It appears that they have communicated well with their guests and safety is the number one priority. In the short term, the cruise lines will take a financial hit because it will take awhile to reopen the ports, airports, etc. There is no way at this time to know how much damage these hurricanes might bring to the infrastructure of Florida and how long it will take to repair. However, we think that the cruise lines will rebound over time because they put the safety of their guests first. Welcome to episode #88! We have a fantastic show for you today! Last week, Royal Caribbean announced an brand new class of ships that will be coming in 2022 and 2024. What is unique about this announcement is that these new ships, the Icon Class, will be power by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel cell technology. This is the first ever passenger cruise ship line to bring to the cruise industry a clean burning energy proportion system. On top of that, they will be testing fuel cell technology on their Oasis and Quantum class ships to starting in 2017. We have invited Matt Hochberg of Royal Caribbean Blog onto this week's show to discuss this "iconic" news and speculate the impact of this announcement on the cruise industry, refueling stations, testing procedures, possible of fuel surcharges and more. They just finished a wonderful cruise on Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas, the newest and largest cruise ship in the world today. Christened less than three months ago, the ship is still sailing it's inaugural Western Mediterranean route. This beautiful ship is over 225,000 gross tons, 1,188 feet long, 18 decks, 2,300 crew members, and can serve almost 5,500 guests.

Welcome to episode #59! On this week's show, we discuss pool safety, lifeguards with Amanda from Get a Life at Sea. We felt that this was an important topic to cover because, sadly, there have been pool incidents on cruise ships. Amanda has some new information for us that the cruise lines are now being more proactive about pool safety and that includes the hiring of lifeguards. This new musical is a must see if you cruise on this ship and we can't wait to see it again in June on our Alaskan cruise.

Welcome to episode #54! First off, we have announcement. We are going to release shows now on a weekly basis! The format of the shows will be slightly different. Every other week we are going to release a show dedicated only to cruise news, cruise chit chat, theme cruise of the week show, listener questions, etc. On opposite weeks, we will dive right into a cruise related topic, interview, or a cruise trip experience report (like this one!) Now, sometimes, we might have a few weeks in a row with a couple of shows that are back to back cruise topical, or cruise news. And on top of that, we might drop a bonus show here or there. Welcome to episode #53! Sometimes when you make plans they change, especially when you are podcasting. This show is proof of that - but all in a good way, and I might add, in a tasty way. This show took a surprising turn that we did not plan talk about in this episode - which was all about the food we enjoyed on board! We started the 2016 right - we took a cruise! Scott and I just returned from a seven day Mexican Riviera cruise on the beautiful Ruby Princess. On this new show, Scott and I discuss the family entertainment options and experiences on Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines, specifically, the licensed characters from Dr. Seuss and DreamWorks and how they incorporate the characters along with children's activities, unique spaces on the ship, with parades, shows, movies, photo opportunities, dining experiences and more. Carnival and Royal Caribbean are moving forward and are aggressively promoting these special interactive opportunities with these well known children's characters on board their ships. We expect to see in future advertising and marketing materials these licensed characters being used to draw potential cruise decisions. And why not? Welcome to Episode #43! Labor Day has passed us by and now we take some time to give our listeners our "news blast" of what's been happening in the cruise industry this past summer. Of course, Scott always has a opinion, a bad idea, or some half brain scheme about every story. (Guess who is writing the show notes?) Actually, the future of cruising is very bright and yet competitive. Cruise lines will have to make the investment into larger ships that will have to have more amenities, services, specialty restaurants, activities, water slides, custom pools and unique experiences to "wow" veteran cruisers and entice new first time cruisers. And lets not forget that the Asia market for cruising is expanding and growing very rapidly. If you have ever wanted to visit China or Japan, the cruise lines are building ships expressly for this region. Expect to hear more about that in the coming year. These things along with competitive pricing and customer appreciation and loyalty programs will hopefully, the cruise lines think, develop long term relationships that will bring guests back year after year to spend their vacation time on a cruise ship. In the end, we believe that cruising is best value for your vacation dollars because the competition between the cruise lines are fierce and that benefits you, the consumer. Welcome to episode #40! On this new show we welcome Pam Andrews, my sister and Scott's wife to The Cruise Dudes Podcast for the first time live and in person! She just got back from a incredible 17 day European trip and Mediterranean cruise. In part one of this podcast, Pam share her adventures with our step-sister Karen in Paris and then joins up with the rest of her stepsisters and our father and step-mom in Rome. In Paris you will learn about how she found the best deals on food, accommodations, tours, and transportation. She toured the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, the Catacombs and enjoyed the sights and smells of Paris. You don' t need to spend a lot of money to have a great time and there are ways to save time and money in France. She loved Paris and had a fantastic time without emptying out her bank account. Welcome to Episode #39!
A few weeks ago we shared with you a very unique "Theme Cruise of the Week", the Cruise to End Parkinson's: Back To The Future Cruise. We wanted to tell you about this cruise because Scott's father suffered with Parkinson's Disease for the last 30 years of his life and we wanted to support this by promoting it on our show. Back to The Future just celebrated it's 30th anniversary this month and it has become a cultural touchstone in many people's lives all around the world including ourselves, The Cruise Dudes. The Back to The Future films brought to us a perfect mix of comedy, science fiction, drama, and romance that captured our hearts and minds. We can honestly say we don't know anyone who doesn't like them - they are awesome movies.

Welcome to Episode #34!
Wow, have we got a big show for you today!
This past Sunday at the Los Angeles Festival of Books, we had the awesome opportunity to meet and speak with Gavin MacLeod who played Captain Merrill Stubing on the famous TV series, The Love Boat. This show introduced us to the world of cruise ship vacations and it catapulted the Princess Cruises business into the stratosphere. The weekly TV show lasted for 9 seasons and is currently still in syndication in 125 countries. And if you are sailing on a Princess Cruises ship, you can watch the show on a exclusive TV channel in your cabin. Gavin is currently the Princess Ambassador for Princess Cruises and was recently honored as the "Godparent" of their newest ship, the Regal Princess.
Gavin has written about his amazing life and acting career in his new book, "This Is Your Captain Speaking". His journey from Broadway to Hollywood to sailing with Princess Cruises is filled with great stories and encounters with celebrities, politicians, as well as a spiritual rebirth. Gavin graciously gives God the credit for everything bestowed upon his life and family.
Scott and I hope you enjoy this mini interview with Gavin and we hope in the future to speak with him again. He was such a gracious gentleman and we thank Princess Cruises for their help in making this arrangement happen on such a short notice.
